A dream, was else?

MUSEUM STRAUHOF_ZH

The exhibition shows various ways of applying and writing about the literary dream. It starts with the conspicuous parallel between the origin of Freud's Interpretation of Dreams and the beginnings of the motion picture. The exhibition then turns to Romanticism, which attempts to conceal the difference between dreams and poetry. A room which reveals how poets tried to grasp dreams in private dream diaries, or used appropriate stimulants to elicit them, precedes a retrospective section dedicated to dreams sent by the gods in the ancient world. The dreaming hero finally returns to the source of the dream: desire.

"Reading is dreaming through someone else's hands."
(Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquietude)
